After sewing costumes for the local theater and having to take my old Kenmore sewing machine to the repair shop for the third time in one year, I decided it was time for a new machine. "Wouldn't it be fun to splurge and get a fine one that also does monogramming? My husband will kill me! Monogramming is so in now and it really never goes out of style. My husband will KILL me!! Oh well, he'll get over it. I'll justify it by telling him I'll make money sewing and monogramming things…Yeah, right."

My first project was a monogrammed ribbon belt for my daughter. She wanted more and so did her friends. I tried for days to find the cute boutique style ribbon on the internet. Impossible!! I took a trip to New York and visited the garment district and finally found what I was looking for. Preppy style stripes and novelty patterns. Good things catch on quickly. Alas, I was making money sewing and monogramming things. PinKiwi was born.
